“They say that color is only an illusion. Well, I like that trick... a lot!”
I love colours... I always have, and always will!
I have pursued colours for as long as I can remember. One day I was told (as a child : ) that colours did not have flavours. Suddenly, the crayons in my mouth lost their appeal. But I still had it in the eyes. And mind.
So I followed a path that kept me near colours. I worked in Art Supply Stores, Managed Art Framing stores, did sales in Art Galleries. This evolved into home installations, then coulour consulting. I faux painted walls and murals. I dabbled in portraits and did photo retouch in a portrait studio. I did a lot of pen & ink drawings. I love black and white as much as colour. They are perfect companions.
Did I mention the pencil drawings? I love all shades of grey too... light and it's shadow.
“Insert Eyvind Earle Header”
I fell in love with Eyvind Earle's work while working in an Art Gallery. I wanted to sell my car to buy a print, I am only semi-joking. The gallery had a relationship with the atelier that was currently producing his serigraphs. I spent so much time analyzing the printing techniques on the serigraph that the gallery director suggested that I start making the prints myself. So I did!
I took to it immediately and was in seventh heaven. Working in a dirty studio. But I was now producing the prints that I wanted to sell my car for. And getting paid!
When I started to make serigraphs, it was a completely hand driven process. Over the years (and in order to compete with other technologies) it slowly incorporated
“If you want an interesting party sometime, combine cocktails and a fresh box of crayons for everyone.”
